“May you have the courage to embrace growth and inspire others along the way." - Kendra Nielson
Last night, I experienced something truly extraordinary—an uplifting performance by the Millennial Choirs and Orchestras. Join me as I delve into the profound lessons on incremental growth and progression that I gleaned from this remarkable experience.
The power of inspiring performances, whether from a choir or a movie, resonates deeply for me and others too. They awaken us from mediocrity, reminding us of our potential to live life more fully. As I sat immersed in the choir's harmonies, I was struck by their dedication and the transformative effect of their music. Do you know that feeling when you leave an inspiring event ready to take on the world? That's what last night's choir did for me.
Earlier that day, I spoke at a women's conference about wellness and the importance of gradual progress. One woman's story of using a walker to march around her room resonated deeply. It highlighted how even small steps can lead to significant growth and fulfillment.
"Progress isn't always about big leaps; sometimes, it's about small, consistent steps forward." — Kendra Nielson
Watching the choir's conductors—like Brett Stewart—was akin to witnessing a master at work. Their ability to bring out the best in each member through subtle gestures and deep passion mirrored the role of a mentor guiding us towards personal growth. A conductor sees more in their choir than they can see in themselves and draws it out with skill and passion.
Reflecting on the choir's performance, I couldn't help but draw parallels to spiritual mentors, like Christ. Just as a conductor inspires the choir to reach beyond their perceived limits, so too does a mentor inspire us to grow spiritually and personally.
"Trusting in our mentor, whether it's a conductor or a spiritual guide, helps us unlock our true potential." — Kendra Nielson
In the Book of Mormon, the allegory of the olive tree teaches us about the patience and effort required for growth. Like the olive tree, our personal development requires pruning and nurturing over time to bear fruit.
"True growth takes time and effort, but it leads to abundant rewards." — Kendra Nielson
As we embrace gradual progression and trust in our mentors, we prepare ourselves to become mentors to others. Just as the conductors of the choir inspire greatness, we too can inspire those around us to reach their full potential.
I encourage you to reflect on moments of inspiration in your own life—whether from a choir, a mentor, or a personal experience. Use these moments to fuel your journey of growth and transformation. Like the choir members and their conductors, may we all strive to become mentors and guides, eliciting greatness in ourselves and others.
Thank you so much for listening today. I hope that you found some value in this. And if you did, please share this with a friend, with someone that you love, and let them know that they're not alone in navigating the teenage years.
